We build new asphalt driveways across Greater Boston the way they are supposed to be built: excavate to grade, compact a stone base, then lay binder and top course while the mix is still hot enough to knit together.
You get a written scope before we start, one crew from the first cut to the last pass of the roller, and a one-year workmanship warranty on the finished surface.

How long it takes, and when you get your surface back
This is the question we get more than any other, so here it is up front instead of buried in a phone call.
- On site 1 to 2 days Excavation and base on day one, paving on day two. Small driveways finish in a single day.
- Walk on it 24 hours Soft shoes only. Keep bikes, kickstands and ladders off the surface.
- Park on it 3 days Longer in a July heat wave. We give you the date before we leave.

Alligator cracking
A web of connected cracks means the base underneath is moving. Paving over it hides the problem for one winter, then it comes right back.

Puddles that sit for more than a day are a pitch problem. Water that cannot leave the surface goes into it, then freezes and lifts.

Asphalt with no shoulder support ravels from the outside in. A new driveway needs the edges backed and compacted.

Why New England eats driveways
The freeze-thaw cycle here runs dozens of times a winter. Water gets into a hairline crack, freezes overnight, expands, and opens the crack a little wider every time. Add road salt and plow blades and a thin driveway laid on a weak base has no chance. That is why we spend the time on the base and the pitch, and why we build with two lifts instead of one.

How long before I can park on my new driveway?
Three days is our standard answer, and it is the honest one for Massachusetts. New asphalt is soft while it cools and cures. You can walk on it after 24 hours. We give you the exact date before we leave the site.

Can I pave over my old driveway instead?
Sometimes. If the base is solid and the cracks are narrow, an overlay is the smarter spend. If the cracks are connected in a web, the base is the problem and an overlay just buys a winter. We tell you which one you have when we measure.

How thick should a residential driveway be?
We build most homes on a compacted gravel base with a binder course and a top course over it. Exact depth depends on your soil and whether trucks will use it. We put the numbers in the written estimate so you can compare them to any other quote.

Will you damage my lawn or my apron?
Heavy equipment leaves marks. We keep the machines on the work area, back the edges when we finish, and tie the apron into the street cleanly. Anything we expect to disturb, we tell you about before we start.

When can I seal a new driveway?
Not right away. New asphalt needs six to twelve months to cure before the first sealcoat. Anyone offering to seal fresh pavement is selling you something that will not bond.
